Former AS Roma captain Daniel De Rossi is now poised to take up the managerial role at the Italian club after a spell of poor performance under manager Jose Mourinho. The former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager was earlier today relieved of his duties following a string of poor performances at the club.
Mourinho, 60, took charge of the club in May of 2021 as the sixth coach of the Giallorossi leading them to Europa Conference League title and Europa League final in 2023. The experienced manager however fell out with the management at the club after the team recorded only one win in their last six fixtures. Events leading to his exit at the club saw the manager receive two consecutive red cards in their midweek fixture against Lazio that saw them bow out of the quarter final of the Copa Italia
Currently placed 9th in Serie A, the club management confirmed former captain Daniel De Rossi is expected to be in charge at the club until June with the option of renewing his contract on account of his results.
